An area of hills situated close to the Hungarian border. Drought-tolerant plant and invertebrate communities occur, and the forests are mainly of Quercus. Scrub, urban areas and agricultural land comprise the outer reaches of the IBA, which is delimited in the south by the rocky gorge of the River Danube.
The IBA is important for breeding raptors, as well as for species of scrub and drought-tolerant habitats such as Caprimulgus europaeus, Jynx torquilla and Emberiza cia.
