Baker River Wetlands

IBA Justification

The site was identified as important in 2010 because it was regularly supporting significant populations of the species listed below, meeting ('triggering') IBA criteria.

Populations meeting IBA criteria ('trigger species'):
Species Current IUCN Red List Category Season Year(s) Population estimate at site IBA criteria met
Ashy-headed Goose Chloephaga poliocephala LC breeding 2009 2,500 individuals A4i
Chilean Flamingo Phoenicopterus chilensis NT unknown 2009 100 individuals A1
Andean Condor Vultur gryphus VU breeding 2009 15-45 individuals A1

The current IUCN Red List category may differ from that which was valid at the time of IBA criteria assessment (2010).
