Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Argentina Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Atlantic, Southwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 5154 km2 and is 344 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 119 to 1466 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 8.25 and 9.85 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.54 and 1.9 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 1534-1342 individuals of Wandering Albatross (VU) from South Georgia are present at the site during the Sabbatical (Oct-May) life-history stage.
