This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Argentina Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Atlantic, Southwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 6398 km2 and is 22 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 95 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.26 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 11.16 and 11.61 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.26 and 2.23 mg/m3.
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 265-2123 individuals of Southern Giant-petrel (LC) from Argentina are present at the site during the Juvenile (Apr-May) and Sabbatical (Apr-Oct) life-history stages.
