Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Argentina Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Atlantic, Southwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 17154 km2 and is 246 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 70 to 1078 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.11 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 8.73 and 11.38 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.94 and 2.23 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
4 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 599-1342 individuals of Wandering Albatross (VU) from South Georgia are present at the site during the Sabbatical (Oct-May) and Juvenile (Oct-Apr) life-history stages. 5227-2352 individuals of Northern Royal Albatross (EN) from New Zealand are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Year-Round) life-history stage. 2500000-900000 individuals of Great Shearwater (LC) from Tristan da Cunha Islands are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Jan-Mar) life-history stage.
