This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Namibia Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Atlantic, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 29230 km2 and is 44 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 136 to 3415 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.88 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 16.25 and 18.83 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.65 and 4.13 mg/m3.
2 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 3543-5179 individuals of Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross (EN) from Gough Island are present at the site during the Non-breeding (May-Aug) life-history stage. 168480-311983 individuals of White-chinned Petrel (VU) from Iles Kerguelen are present at the site during the Non-breeding (Apr-Aug) life-history stage.
