This Marine IBA is identified using both tracking data and seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It falls within the Seychelles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Indian Ocean, Western FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 23690 km2 and is 1092 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 3522 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.49 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 25.14 and 27.95 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.14 and 0.4 mg/m3.

BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 1008-2340 individuals of White-Tailed Tropicbird (LC) from Cousin are present at the site during the Breeding (Year-Round) life-history stage. 22608-48149 individuals of Wedge-Tailed Shearwater (LC) from Cousin-Aride are present at the site during the Breeding (Aug-Mar) life-history stage. 14400-36000 individuals of Wedge-Tailed Shearwater (LC) from D'Arros are present at the site during the Breeding (Aug-Mar) life-history stage. Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; Aride island, Bird Island, Cousin island, Cousine island, Frégate island include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Audubon's Shearwater (LC) 129000-216000 individuals, Roseate Tern (LC) 2145-3705 individuals, Brown Noddy (LC) 21600-42660 individuals, Lesser Noddy (LC) 392175-880680 individuals, Common White Tern (LC) 38430-56970 individuals, White-tailed Tropicbird (LC) 4728-10086 individuals, Wedge-tailed Shearwater (LC) 146850-228900 individuals and Sooty Tern (LC) 313200-878400 individuals.
