An area of grassland, with patches of cork oak Quercus suber woodland, located north of the village of Macomer. The area is rich in small, temporary pools, and there are also rocky areas and rivers. The main land-use is agriculture.
Key biodiversity
An important breeding site for Tetrax tetrax and other open-country species. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are the drainage of the small wetlands, the building of new power lines, and the lack of legal site-protection.
