Site description
Aketajawe is a hilly area with the highest peak of Gunung Saolat (1508 m). The peoples in this area concentrate on the coastal area in the west. The people generally work as farmer and fisherman.
Key biodiversity
Aketajawe supports 30 estricted-range bird species, including 5 threatened birds species.
Non-bird biodiversity: There are endemic fauna of Halmahera island Phalanger halmaherae. The other fauna is Tropidonotus punctiventris, Papilio heringi (Monk et.al.1981), Cervus timorensis moluccensis (Hitipeuw & Tuhumury 1999. obs.pri.)
