A large, complex site comprising open dry heathland, raised bogs, sandy dunes, small wetlands, surrounded by forest. The site was used as military firing ground until recently. New IBA, listed for the first time under the IBA C criteria. High protection level: there is a 76.1% overlap with the newly designated Adazi protected landscape area and Dzelves-Krona bog restricted nature reserve, both candidate SPAs.
