A forest and wetland complex consisting of two raised bogs, Sturu and Zvardes bogs, and mostly mixed forest interspersed with a few other smaller wetlands. The site is bordered to a large extent by Zvarde forests IBA in the SW part where two small lakes are included. Listed as an IBA since 2000 [1]. High protection level there is a 93.5% overlap with Zvarde restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
