PL083
Middle Vistula River Valley This is an IBA in Danger!

IBA Justification

The site was identified as important in 2010 because it was regularly supporting significant populations of the species listed below, meeting ('triggering') IBA criteria.

Populations meeting IBA criteria ('trigger species'):
Species Current IUCN Red List Category Season Year(s) Population estimate at site IBA criteria met
Corncrake Crex crex LC breeding 2006-2009 40-70 males C1
Common Little Bittern Ixobrychus minutus LC breeding 2006-2009 5-15 breeding pairs C6
Mediterranean Gull Larus melanocephalus LC breeding 2007-2009 10-15 breeding pairs C6
Little Tern Sternula albifrons LC breeding 2007-2009 420-540 breeding pairs C6
Common Tern Sterna hirundo LC breeding 2007-2009 1,400-1,700 breeding pairs C6

The current IUCN Red List category may differ from that which was valid at the time of IBA criteria assessment (2010).

Response (conservation actions taken for the trigger species and/or their habitats)
Protected-area designation Management planning Other conservation action Result
Most of site (50-90%) covered (including the most critical parts for important bird species) A comprehensive and appropriate management plan exists that aims to maintain or improve the populations of qualifying bird species Substantive conservation measures are being implemented but these are not comprehensive and are limited by resources and capacity not assessed
