This IBA consists of two adjoining reserves on the northeastern Pondoland coast; one on either side of the mBashe River. The coastal forest at this site is vitally important for the Spotted Ground Thrush Zoothera guttata, which breeds here. The forest floor and edge dwelling Red-necked Spurfowl Pternistis afer and Lemon Dove Aplopelia larvata are common.
