A plateau adjacent to the ice-cap, with deeply incised glacial valleys and associated wetlands that are important feeding and staging areas for geese during the spring. Mid-altitude areas, characterized by tundra and Arctic scrub, are important for nesting geese; high-altitude lakes are used as moulting grounds. Hunting is occasional.
