Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (passage), Crex crex (breeding).

Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
There is a programme of shallow-water restoration.

Protected areas
National High International High184 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Mittlere Horloffaue, 184 ha). IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
