Site location and context
The IBA is the site of a former large lake, drained at the beginning of the 20th century. Standing fresh water, reedbeds (Phragmites
) and wet ruderal areas exist with arable land on higher sites.
The site is important for breeding and roosting waterbirds.
None448 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Salziger See, 448 ha).
