Site description
The IBA is situated in the north of the Alps, close to the Austrian border. It comprises forest (Fagus, Acer, Abies and Picea), alpine meadows and rocky areas. A diverse flora exists due to the varying calcareous/silicate ground conditions.

Protected areas
National High International None4,412 ha of IBA covered by Landscape Protected Area (Rotwand, 4,412 ha). IBA overlaps with Nature Reserve.
