A flat, almost treeless plain, of predominantly arable land at the border with Slovakia and Hungary. Two small villages are within the boundaries of the area as well as several large gravel-pits.
Key biodiversity
An important site for species associated with arable agriculture. The local Otis tarda population extends into Hungary and Slovakia.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The area of set-aside land is increasing. Intensive monitoring of Otis tarda is carried out.
