Site description
The largest inland delta in Scandinavia, formed by the mouths of the Glomma, Leira and Nilelva rivers flowing into Lake Øyeren. The northern part is shallow, with inland areas covered by deciduous forest, scrub, grassland and agricultural land.

Key biodiversity
An important area for migrating waterbirds, and for swans Cygnus in winter, as well as for breeding Pandion haliaetus. Breeding species of global conservation concern which do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (1-2 pairs).
