Site description (2012 baseline)
This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the Madagascar Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Indian Ocean, FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 197402 km2 and borders the coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 4513 m and with a mean annual wind speed of 1.98 m/s.
Key biodiversity
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 432-1020 individuals of Red-Tailed Tropicbird (LC) from Nosy Ve are present at the site during the Breeding (Year-Round) life-history stage.
