It originates from the French Southern Territories Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Indian Ocean, Western FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 8915 km2 and is 242 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 3433 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 1.69 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 26.01 and 26.47 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.13 and 0.21 mg/m3.
