This Marine IBA is identified using tracking data. It falls within the St Helena (to UK) Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Atlantic, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 34422 km2 and is 1917 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 1210 to 4073 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.98 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 9.86 and 11.85 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 0.26 and 0.6 mg/m3.

BirdLife analyses of tracking data estimates that 279-279 individuals of Tristan Albatross (CR) from Gough Island are present at the site during the Post-guard (Year-Round) life-history stage. 1000-4333 individuals of Sooty Albatross (EN) from Gough Island are present at the site during the Brood-guard (Dec-Jan) and Post-guard (Jan-May) life-history stages.
