Site description
The IBA comprises stony islets and an area of saltmarsh between Frederikshavn and Strandby. Only the main island of Hirsholm is inhabited. Marine areas surrounding this IBA (and previously included within it, following Grimmett and Jones 1989) are now included in site 119.

Key biodiversity
This is an important area for breeding gulls and terns including Sterna sandvicensis, S. hirundo and S. paradisaea, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive.
