Site description
A large moorland and peatbog with some forest plantations and agricultural areas; the extent of agricultural land is poorly known and may be significantly more than 5-10%.

Key biodiversity
Several species listed on Annex I of the Birds Directive breed at the site including Grus grus, Tringa glareola, Asio flammeus, Caprimulgus europaeus and Lanius collurio.

Protected areas
National None International High2,320 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Jerup Hede, Råbjerg and Tolshave Mose, 2,320 ha).
