Ornithological information: Besides the trigger species the following are confirmed breeding or resident on the islands: Little Penguin, Grey-faced Petrel, Black-winged Petrel, Sooty Shearwater, Fluttering Shearwater, Common Diving Petrel, Pied Shag, Southern Black-backed Gull, Red-billed Gull, White-fronted Tern, Grey Noddy (Grey Ternlet), Australasian Harri-er, Spotless Crake, Banded Rail, Morepork, NZ Kingfisher, Welcome Swallow, NZ Pipit, Grey Warbler, North island Fantail, Three Kings Bellbird, Blackbird, Hedge Sparrow, Chaffinch, Common Myna. Other species recorded: Little Egret, Brown Quail, Long-tailed Cuckoo, Redpoll.
