The site covers parts of Swansea Bay, including mudflats at the eastern and western ends that extend for over 1 km at low water. A small area of sand-dunes are also present, although these have been partly converted to a golf course.
First identified in 1989. Descriptive text and bird data refer to the 2000 Inventory.
The site is important for wintering waders.
