Site description
This site contains some of the highest quality blanket bog in Shetland, in addition to many pools and acid lochans, some with small islands. The important tree and scrub cover comprises Betula, Sorbus, Salix and Juniperus, and numerous Arctic-alpine species characterize the flora and invertebrate fauna. The IBA holds an important assemblage of breeding moorland birds.
