An extensive site consisting of a complex of wetlands including salt lake, salt marshes and freshwater marshes, coastal scrub, dunes, agricultural areas including citrus plantations and coastal cliffs. The Akrotiri Peninsula is a congregation site for waterbirds in winter and spring attracting wintering and breeding waterbirds, and a raptor bottleneck site in autumn. Beyond the wetlands, the cliffs host the most important remaining Cyprus breeding colony of Griffon Vultures.
