Site description
A fast-flowing river with pools, marshes, woodland, cultivated and uncultivated land, heathland, cliffs, and reservoirs. Human activities include mining and quarrying.



Key biodiversity
The site is important for passage and breeding raptors. The site is a migratory bottleneck, where more than 3,000 raptors pass on a regular basis (including Pernis apivorus 10,000; Milvus migrans 1,000; Milvus milvus 1,000).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The site is threatened by forestry exploitation and the replacement of natural woodland with exotic species. Sailing causes disturbance to birds.
