This is an important site for breeding herons and wetland raptors and passage site for Grus grus and wildfowl.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from sedimentation and nutrient pollution, both a result of intensive agriculture around the lagoons. A management plan exists for both lagoons.
