Pitillas and Dos Reinos lagoons

Site description
Small endorreic lagoons, now used for irrigation, with water-fringe vegetation.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding herons and wetland raptors and passage site for Grus grus and wildfowl.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from sedimentation and nutrient pollution, both a result of intensive agriculture around the lagoons. A management plan exists for both lagoons.

National High International High21 ha of IBA covered by Natural Area (Laguna de Dos Reinos, 21 ha). 216 ha of IBA covered by Natural Reserve (Laguna de Pitillas, 216 ha). 21 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Laguna de Dos Reinos, 21 ha). 216 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Laguna de Pitillas, 216 ha).
