An area of steppe vegetation, amongst large areas of cereal cultivation, in the semi-arid region of Los Monegros.
Key biodiversity
This is an important area for steppic species, particularly breeding Pterocles alchata. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Tetrax tetrax (11-40 resident individuals).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from irrigation plans to allow agricultural intensification, the construction of a railway and the use of poison baits.
