Site description (baseline)
Area of mainly forested sand dunes on the Baltic Sea coast. Habitats of particular interest are the natural expanses of open gravel and pebble, up to 400-500 m wide, stretching along the shore. First listed as part of the IBA LV006 in 1994 [1], now also qualifies under the IBA C criteria. Fully protected: there is a 99.5% overlap with Uzava restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA. The gap between IBA and pSPA boundaries is due to differences in different methods of boundary setting.
