A rugged mountain with an extensive alpine zone, limited Abies woodland, and extensive grasslands. The main human activity is livestock-farming.

An important site for resident raptors, forest and alpine grassland.

Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are illegal hunting and the use of poison baits. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Orini Parnassidus, 24,0341 ha). Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Makrin Rachi, Dryodaxsos Pentagion, 1,767 ha).
