A tall mountain with densely forested valleys. The main human activities include forestry, livestock-farming and winter sports.
This is an important area for resident raptors, forest species and species associated with open montane habitats. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aquila heliaca, Falco naumanni (non-breeding).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Threats include the construction of a ski centre and its associated infrastructure and more widespread tourism-based development. A dam is planned for the Papadia river. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
